Chickadees love sunflower seeds, peanuts, suet, and various other quality seed blends. They are not particularly picky, which makes them one of the easier backyard birds to attract. Refer to "Choosing The Right Seed" & "Beyond Bird Seed" for guidance.
Place fresh sunflower seed or peanuts in a bird feeder that chickadees can easily find. They also appreciate feeders near trees or shrubs where they can quickly fly back and forth between cover and the feeder.
That is perfectly normal behaviour for a chickadee. They often prefer to grab one seed at a time and carry it somewhere safe to eat or store rather than sitting at the feeder for a long time. If you see them coming and going, your feeder is doing its job.
