Our story
"For Birders by Birders!"
Happy Feathers came from a simple idea that the best birding experiences often happen right where people live. Here on the West Coast, birds are a part of everyday life. From hummingbirds around the garden to chickadees, finches, jays, woodpeckers and other common birds that visit backyards, there is always something to see. We wanted to build a place that helps people enjoy those moments and learn about the wildlife that lives just outside their home.
We are particular about the things we sell. We work with manufacturers and suppliers to find products that meet the standards we look for, paying attention to the ingredients in our bird food, the materials used in our feeders and houses, how easy it is to clean and fix, and whether the product's really good for backyard wildlife. We prefer to pick things instead of just having something because it is popular. For us, quality is not about how a product looks on a shelf, it is about thinking about the birds that use it and the person who takes care of it.
Being based in Canada also shapes the way we think about bird watching. Different birds have different needs and what works in one backyard may not work in another. That is why we want to help people choose products based on the birds they actually see. Whether you are trying to attract a certain bird or give birds a safe place to nest and rest, we want to help.
We also care about what happens after the birds come to the feeder. Birds need places to live, natural food, water, shelter and places to raise their babies. As the environment around us changes, even small choices in a backyard can make a difference. We want Happy Feathers to help people think about the challenges facing wildlife and the importance of protecting their habitats. From keeping feeders clean to growing spaces that support birds and giving species more space to grow, every action counts.
Most of all, we want to get to know the people who shop with us. You might be a bird expert who already knows every bird in your yard or you may have bought your first feeder because a colourful bird caught your eye one morning. Either way there is always something to find and we are here to make that discovery easier. With high-quality products, helpful information, and a real love for the wildlife that makes Canada such a special place to live, we are ready to help.
