Frequently Asked Questions

A simple sugar-water nectar made with white granulated sugar and water is all hummingbirds need. Please avoid adding honey, artificial sweeteners, dyes, or other ingredients that aren't necessary for their nectar. Refer to "How To Attract Hummingbirds" for guidance.
Hummingbirds can sometimes act quite territorial and attack other birds, especially around a good food source. If one hummingbird is constantly chasing others away, you can add another feeder and place it out of sight from the first feeder to give more birds a chance to feed.
Keep your feeder filled with fresh nectar and clean it regularly. Adding hummingbird-friendly flowers can also give them another reason to spend time in your yard. Most importantly, be patient because hummingbirds may take some time to discover a new feeder.
